The Melbourne Stencil Festival Association is a not for profit organization. As such it has the usual gaggle of culprits in its committee structure including; president, vice president (artist representative), treasurer, secretary and a general committee members. This executive committee oversees a number of sub-committees covering; the organization of Sweet Streets, artist liaison, volunteer management and marketing/PR.

The Melbourne Stencil Festival is focused on benefiting practicing urban & street artists. At the same time, the festival seeks to benefit the community through participation, understanding and collaboration of urban & street art and promote Melbourne as a global centre of urban & street art.
This mission was developed from a lengthy debate on the purpose of the organization. In 2009 the purpose was updated to:
a) benefit the stencil and street art community and practising artists
b) encourage community participation, understanding and collaboration
c) promote Melbourne as a global centre of urban & street art
d) present Sweet Streets the event
e) support and document urban & street art
f) maintain not for profit status
